Valere Mantels, a member of the United Nations' Conference on Disarmament, discusses the current status of this multilateral disarmament forum and the past accomplishment.
Mr. Mantels is currently a Senior Political Affairs Officer within the United Nations Department for Disarmament Affairs and Secretary to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva. He has produced numerous publications on the issues of nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation. Mr. Mantels is also the director of the United Nations Programme of Fellowships on Disarmament. In the fall of 2012, he will be leaving Geneva for the United Nations in New York where he will devote his time to nuclear disarmament issues, specifically the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
