The K=1 Project seeks to recruit first-year Columbia students to take part in a summer research project on nuclear proliferation. You do not need to be a science student to participate.
Over the years, the K=1 Project has supported educational programs through which students have performed research projects focused on the exploration and discussion of issues related to nuclear weapons and nuclear power. Our multi-disciplinary activities use input from science, social science, and the humanities. Past and current students have engaged in research, article writing, web design, illustration and film production.
If you are interested in nuclear proliferation and would like to work as part of a team, this project could be for you!
Successful candidates will be expected to undertake full-time summer research for 8 weeks (Monday, June 4 - Friday, July 27, 2018), and will receive a $4000 stipend.

- A brief essay on why you are interested in the topic of nuclear proliferation
- A brief description of an experience you have had working as part of a group and the key lessons you learned from that experience
- Your academic transcript
- Your cv
- A short letter of recommendation from an instructor or professor who has taught you since arriving at Columbia. The letter should be emailed directly to [email protected] by the instructor.
The application deadline is Friday, January 19, 2018 at noon.
